Australia names three representatives
Australia has chosen three representatives for the 2009 Eco-Minds Youth Forum.
(From top) Chris Mason, Alex Readford and Chris McLean.
They are:

Chris Mason

Chris is currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical at the University of Western Sydney. Chris is particularly interested in renewable energy technologies and methods of reducing energy use and wastage.

He is currently completing his honours thesis in “Dual distribution of DC and AC in buildings.”

Alex Readford

Alex is currently studying BSc (Resource and Environmental Management) and a Bachelor of Laws at the Australian National University. Alex has been involved in a number of projects in environmental issues in particular he has volunteered his time with the ACT Environmental Defender’s Office helping to write submissions on proposed legislation on solar energy.

Alex also travelled to Oxford for two months to monitor energy consumption across the campus through a university exchange.

Chris McLean

Chris is currently in his second year of a Doctor of Philosophy (biology) at the University of Wollongong. Chris is very passionate about the environment and started a student based Landcare group while at high school and has volunteered at the NSW National Parks and Wildlife service for the past six years.

Chris is currently completing his PhD in ecology investigating the effect of fire frequency on hollow tree abundance.
