Korea selects two Eco-Minds Youth Forum delegates
Korea has selected two delegates for the 2009 Eco-Minds Youth Forum .
YoungTae Jo (top) and JaeGeun (Jacky) LeeYoungTae Jo is studying Environmental Engineering in Chonnam National University.
He is also an active member of Korea Federation of Environmental Movements, the biggest NGO in Korea. YoungTae has shown big interest in environmental education for children and preservation of wetlands and sea.
He thinks environmentally sound and sustainable development, and sustainable energy sources are more important today. YoungTae has joined various field activities for environmental protection such as a children’s environmental camp, and a bicycle campaign for a day without cars.
JaeGeun(Jacky) Lee is majoring in chemical engineering at POSTECH.
Having concluded that the future energy system is one of the biggest environmental problems, JaeGeun, as a chemical engineer, is doing research in an energy and electronic materials laboratory at POSTECH to make breakthroughs in energy technology. JaeGeun has also acted inside and outside the school.
He established an environmental circle in his school in 2005 and has focused on studying various kinds of environmental ideas and movements. He has acted as a member of UNEP Angel, a union of university students across the countries under UNEP Korea, since 2005.
