New Zealand announces five delegates
New Zealand has announced five leading university students as delegates for the 2009 Eco-Minds Youth Forum.

Currently in her second year studying for a BSc in Environmental Science at the University of Canterbury, Elana’s long-term goal is to work in the area internationally.
She has been involved in implementing recycling schemes and educating secondary school students about conservation issues.
Elana has also travelled widely through Europe, the Middle East, Northern Africa, China and more recently Cost Rica.
Fiona Southall
A former Otago University student where she completed a Bsc in Geography, Fiona is now studying towards a Master of Environmental Management through Massey University’s Albany campus on the North Shore.
In addition, she has a post graduate Certificate of Management, also from Massey, and has spent time doing development work in Cambodia.
Daniel Scott
An Honours-level engineering student from Auckland University, Daniel is working towards a major in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Throughout his engineering studies he has been involved in the design issues surrounding power generation. He has a particular interest in renewable energy power generation and is part of a project implementing a solar energy supply system to a school in Tonga.
Melissa Wong
With a Bachelor of Technology and a post-graduate diploma in Bioscience Enterprise, Melissa is currently doing a Masters in Science at Auckland University, where her main project will be biofuels.
She has been involved in several sustainable development research projects in relation to the biofuel industry and is keen to pursue a career in the commercial science sector.
Rebecca Williamson
From Hamilton, Rebecca is doing a conjoint degree in Management Studies and Science, with majors in Economics and Chemistry.
She has a strong interest in sustainability and upon completing her studies would like to get involved in research and public policy in the areas of economic and environmental sustainability.
