Singapore winners announced
The three delegates from Singapore have been chosen to participate in the 3rd Eco-Minds Asia Pacific Youth Forum to be held in Auckland and Rotorua, New Zealand.

The theme for the forum is "Sustainable Energy Supply: Challenges and Opportunities".  Eco-Minds is a biennial youth program that aims to encourage innovative thinking among the youth in search of new solutions to problems of sustainable development.

Eco-Minds winner, Miss Lim Ren Hui from the National University of Singapore, submitted a project aimed at raising awareness and using new technologies to conserve Singapore’s coral reefs. She impressed judges with her analytical and innovative thinking. Using new technologies to combat coral degradation, she proposed using Biorock, a process utilising mineral accretion technology to rehabilitate degraded coral reefs.

The other two Eco-Minds winners are Miss Tan Hui Ling from Hwa Chong Junior College and Miss Tay Jit Ling (Jackeline) from Republic Polytechnic.

Mr Yim added, “We also hope that by challenging the youth to think of new and creative solutions to the problem of sustainable development, we may help to achieve the delicate balance between environmental protection and economic development.”
